UT alums to celebrate Fat Orange Tuesday

Brentwood, TN Alumni and supporters of the University of Tennessee are invited to help the good times roll at the 12th annual "Fat Orange Tuesday," sponsored by the Williamson County Chapter of the University of Tennessee Alumni Association at the Brentwood Country Club on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 at 6 p.m.
UT Chancellor Dr. Jimmy G. Cheek is scheduled to be the grand marshal. Cheek became the University of Tennessee's seventh chancellor in 2009.
Scrumptious food includes a Cajun/New Orleans buffet and a cash bar. Tickets are $32 for pre-registered alumni and guests and $35 at the door. The public is invited to attend. Optional Mardi Gras costumes, especially "Big Orange" costumes, are always appropriate and welcomed. Co-chairs for this year's event are Jennifer Harris and Randy Smith.

Highlighting the evening will be the crowning of the grand marshal as king and a performance by the UT Jazz Ensemble. George Bitzas, of Knoxville, professor emeritus, UT Knoxville School of Music, who was the first grand marshal for the celebration, traditionally sings the National Anthem.
Festivities will include the live and silent auctions. Among the exciting items will be special UT game packages and memorabilia, two Remington sculptures, a Charles Frace print - "The Lions," trips to vacation destinations, a night at The Hutton Hotel, custom-designed jewelry, tickets to the Nashville Opera, tickets to the Nashville Symphony and many others. Social and registration begin at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. and live auction at 8 p.m.
Proceeds will benefit the scholarship program of the University of Tennessee School of Music. Fat Orange Tuesday is a fun-filled event that brings together UT alumni, family and interested friends for a festive evening to get to know one another and to support Williamson County UT Alumni Chapter Scholarship Endowment.
